Starmer to Push Partner Nations on Extended-Range Weaponry for Ukrainian Forces at UK Gathering
Sir Keir Starmer is expected to urge allies to supply Ukraine with further long-range missiles to hit Russian targets during discussions in Britain on the upcoming Friday.
The prime minister will host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky alongside the so-called "group of committed partners", including more than 20 of supporting nations who have pledged to provide the Ukrainian government protection commitments once hostilities pause is negotiated.
The Ukrainian leader has been pleading for weeks for further long-range weapons from the West, an action that Moscow has warned would escalate the conflict.
Ukraine's leader is journeying from Brussels, where he conferred with EU leaders on Thursday requesting economic assistance.
"The single figure participating in current hostilities who does not want to stop the war is Vladimir Putin," Starmer stated.
Sir Keir will also declare that 100 further anti-aircraft missiles will be provided to Kyiv ahead of schedule, as detailed in a £1.6bn deal concluded between the United Kingdom and the Ukrainian government in spring.

The Ukrainian president comes off the back of important international achievements this week: the US President's move to implement new measures against the Russian government, and EU nations agreeing to finance Ukraine's financial gap.
Sir Keir is aiming to sustain the forward movement by increasing the leverage on Moscow to negotiate a resolution to the war.

Britain's leader will encourage delegates to expand the supply of long-range weapons following a successful attack on a chemical plant in Bryansk, Russia, using UK-provided advanced weaponry.
"Additionally, his depraved assaults on small children in a preschool in recent days demonstrate that perfectly obvious," he continued.
Two children were among at least seven killed in a wave of enemy assaults on Ukraine, which hit a preschool facility in the second biggest city Kharkiv.
Economic Talks
Britain's leader will confer with supporting countries on how to remove Russia's petroleum resources from international trade.
They will also consider using seized Moscow funds to supply the Ukrainian government with financial loans, though the proposal experienced insufficient agreement and legal hurdles at the Brussels summit on yesterday.
European nations declined to consenting a plan to use up to €140bn in blocked Moscow funds to monetarily assist Kyiv's finances.
However, the participants decided to assist with Ukraine's "budgetary necessities" for the upcoming biennium.
America also disclosed sanctions on recently against the Russian major oil companies, Rosneft Oil and Lukoil Corporation, as element of actions to apply economic pressure on Russia to begin ceasefire negotiations.
Russia initiated its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in winter 2022. Russian troops at this time holds about twenty percent of the country's land, comprising the Crimean peninsula the Russian government took control of in 2014.
